Who We Are
The [Friends of Indian Democracy (working title)] is a newly established movement with the aim to become a diaspora-led voice in the UK/US for preserving and promoting democracy in India, amplifying support for India’s democratic foundations by bringing together people of Indian origin living in the UK/US as well as anybody that has a love for India and interested in strengthening Indian democracy. It aims to do so through community engagement, policy and media advocacy, campus mobilization, and coalition building.
Who You Are
● A creative and strategic thinker with experience managing social media platforms and digital partnerships programs (including influencers, advocacy groups, etc) for political campaigns, nonprofits, advocacy organizations or similar organizations
● A strong relationship manager who has developed and nurtured key partnerships with a variety of individuals and organizations
● A project manager who is good at organizing large amounts of information, coordinating with different types of people and staying on top of deadlines
● An innovative thinker who can use data to create and adjust content strategy to reach target audiences and meet people where they are
● A passionate individual with an understanding of the Indian political climate and is committed to defending democracy in India and around the world.
What You’ll Do
● Social media
○ Develop a social media and content strategy tailored to platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube) and target audiences that persuade and mobilize them to take action
○ Manage day-to-day posting and scheduling on social media channels
○ Analyze the performance of social copy and content across platforms and provide strategic recommendations for optimization and adjustment
○ Monitor important moments and digital trends to find opportunities for rapid response and innovation
○ Mitigate any issues that may arise on any of the social platforms
● Content
○ Manage the creative process from start to finish — from initial ideation, pitching and coordinating with creatives to production, approvals and reporting
○ Oversee and direct the work of freelance creatives and/or agencies required to produce high-quality content
○ Write copy for all social platforms and optimize it for the key target audiences on each
● Partnerships
○ Translate the collective’s values, vision and priorities to a broad set of partners including celebrities, influencers and partner organizations
○ Identify potential new partners and ideate ways to engage them and bring them into the collective’s mission
○ Craft social media toolkits and best practices for partners and share content for them to amplify during key launches or moments.
